There's
more about Postcards that meets the eye...

Take
another look at the humble postcard. Size A6, although appears small,
is actually quite versatile (and fits nicely into a C6 envelope
if necessary), even though it's dimensions
restrict the amount of content you can fit on it. Consider these
points:
•
use both sides –– twice the space for your purpose
•
chose a relevant and striking picture for the front face
•
design the reverse for the message and even an address section
•
compose a catchy headline that grabs your reader's attention
•
ask a question that will make your readers say 'yes'
•
use a rememberable strapline to reinforce your message
•
the language should be succinct, poignant and thought-provoking
•
don't write too much –– less is more and you haven't
the space
•
bullet point the solutions to your customers' pain through your
benefits
•
use jargon-free, easily digestible words for easy scanning
•
add a time-dependent call-to-action laced with enticing incentives
or special offers
•
make sure your contact details are large, clear and visible several
times
•
increase professionalism with good design and printing
•
take care with materials, colours and typefaces used
•
avoid illegibility such as dark backgrounds or distracting multiple
fonts
