Would
having a blog help you market
your business better?
Hi,
I'm Alice Elliott, and my business Design
Your Marketing
is
all about making your business more attractive to
customers, which includes making your businesses more
visual and exposing its information to a larger audience.
Sometimes
just having a website is not enough – you need
to have somewhere where you can express yourself, providing
on-going news about your business, educate your customers,
promote new events or products – all in an environment that
is
publicly seen throughout the net.
A ‘brochure style’ website is far more difficult to
update, needs
the use of a webmaster and is seldom visited by the internet
spiders. It’s a space on the web that just sits there, looking
pretty,
but doesn’t encourage interaction from your customers.
Hi
Alice, I just wanted to say a big thank you to you for
your very helpful advice on blogging, I have just started
my blog and was really unsure of the how to's etc. I will
definitely be making it a part of my daily routine.
Again thanks for your honesty and very practical advice,
Julz

So
what is different about a blog?
A blog is self-editing, thrives on regular input and spiders visit
blogs hourly.
It also uses applications to spread your word around the web easily,
efficiently and automatically.
It encourages and succeeds on feedback and input from your readers,
and can also be used as an archive for your articles and other information,
as each post is allocated its individual URL.
The
free software provided by the blogging platform is
excellent for search engine optimisation, too.
So
if you are interested in finding out more about blogs,
then join me live for an hour’s teleseminar class on blogging
(or if you can’t make the day a recording will be available).
In
this live teleseminar you will discover how to:
•
publicise your business to a wider audience
•
increase your expert status
•
let customers check you out before they buy
•
bring more traffic to your website
•
interact with potential customers
•
provide an archive for your newsletter material
•
work better with search engine optimisation
•
help link you to social networking sites
But
above all I want you to realise that blogs
aren't difficult technology to master, and
that everybody can and should have one!
Hi
Alice, thank-you for explaining it a little better.
For
the many of us who are IT challenged, the cyperspace can
be a daunting place to be. I look forward to more cyperspace
conversations with you.
Kind
regards, Kerry

Part
of what I am doing at the moment is creating a series of
packages on blogging called 'How to
Beautify your Blog',
of which details are on new blogsite www.designyourmarketing.co.uk.
I'm very keen that more businesses should be introduced
to the world of blogs and find out how useful they are.
Hence
why I'm giving this seminar to show and encourage you to
look at blogs in a new light and to understand their benefits.
Even
if you've already got a blog it's always nice to learn about
new tips that you could make to improve it.
Hi
Alice, the information that you have passed on is fantastic.
I will be going to your website now to save it as a favourite.
I
understand what you mean about making blogs in smaller chunks
– it might also mean that I get around to doing it
better and more often!
Thank you for your friendly and constructive advice, Kirsty

I
will reassure you how unscary blogs are, and there will be a chance
for those on the call to ask questions and provide their own opinions.

Thanks
for a great post Alice.
I have a blog and until late last year was posting regularly
and using the blog to help get myself out there, but since
Jan 2009 have been so busy I let it slide and have not done
anything with the blog. Very slack considering the exposure
it can bring.
Your post reminded me how important a tool blogging can
be and I have started posting again, thanks for the timely
reminder and I will have to drop in and look at your group.

Oh
thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly, I'm so
glad everything is OK. I was thinking that I had done something
wrong since the search engines weren't picking up on it.
As for the categories and
tags, sounds really good, and I did try to find where to
put them but couldn't see anywhere they could go. It looks
like I've got a lot more research to do.
Thanks again, Jan
